Davis Station and our Radio Research Communications Unit - Vietnam.  (RRCUV)
This is an aerial view of Tan Son Nhut Air Base taken by Doug Warner.  Davis Station is in the lower right quadrant of the photo....  Below the large hangers
I was stationed here from Nov 71 to Nov 72.  Davis Station was named for James T. Davis who was the first recognized American killed in the Vietnam War.  Davis died on Dec 22, 1961 after being attacked by the enemy while on a radio direction finding mission in the countryside not far from Tan Son Nhut.
In Vietnam the Army Security Agency used the cover name of Radio Research since our presence was supposed to be a secret.  We couldn't wear our ASA patches or patches linked to our agency.  I wore the MACV (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam) patch.  We sometimes refered to ourselves as XYZ instead of ASA.  We were there from the beginning to the end ....  From the  Delta to the DMZ and beyond.

Another great photo by Doug Warner of the Jim Davis Memorial with our compound  and TSN AB runway in the background.

When I first arrived, my hooch was in the top right corner, 2nd from runway.  Moved around several times later on
